Büechli

Made for iPhone Duo

Büechli

A real notebook's feel, a digital one's benefits.

Folded, a cover in your hand. Open the phone, and two pages lie before you. Pages turn under your finger, plain Markdown underneath. A contents page that writes itself. One purchase, every device.

One-time purchase. Also on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

An iPhone Duo folded, its cloth cover labelled Lisbon trip, beside one opened on two ruled pages of handwriting.
Pages turn under your finger

Pages turn under your finger

Your writing keeps to the page: no endless scroll, every note stays in view, page by page. The fold is the spine, each half of the display one page. Pages curl under your finger – drag a corner, or just flick.

Type, or write by hand

What you type appears in handwriting, on ruled lines – headings, bold, italics and checklists with one tap. Or write with your finger, or the Apple Pencil on iPad, and turn the handwriting into typed text later, if you like.

From your headings and ribbons. Lay ribbons between the pages as bookmarks, and name them if you like. Write [[Packing]] and it becomes a link to that heading – tap a line, or a link, and the book opens there.

Plain Markdown underneath

Every notebook is one plain Markdown file in your own iCloud Drive. Open and edit it in any app, keep it in Git, search it with scripts – the links are plain Markdown links too. Import Markdown files as notebooks; export any notebook with one tap. No format of its own, no account, no server of ours.

All your notebooks

Each notebook gets its own cover colour, number and title. Close it beside the shelf, browse them spine by spine, or spread them out on a walnut desk. Start a new one in seconds, rearrange them as you like.

Made for folding

Büechli follows your hands. Open the phone, and the book opens with it. Hold it half open, and you write as on a small laptop. Folded, the outer display shows the cover, the shelf and the desk. Stand it up like a tent, and it is a shelf on your bedside table.

Half open, like a laptop: your page above, the keys below.

One purchase, every device

One purchase, every device

iPhone, iPad and Mac, the same notebooks, through your iCloud Drive. On any iPhone and on the iPad, turn it sideways and the notebook opens as a book. Page 12 is page 12 on every device. Edited on two devices at once? Both versions merge, nothing gets lost – you choose what stays.

Büechli on your Mac

Two pages side by side, in a window you size as you like. Change a file in another editor, and Büechli shows the change. No iCloud? Your notebooks stay on the device, in the Files app.

Pay once. Keep it.

One-time purchase, no subscription, no ads, no data collected. Büechli has nothing to collect: your notebooks live in your iCloud Drive and nowhere else. And should Büechli ever go away, you still have your notebooks – they are plain files.

Büechli is Swiss German for “little book”. Say BEW-ech-lee: the ü as in French “tu”, the ch as in Scottish “loch”.
